How does a dim-witted intern become a radio superstar? Improvised comedy series Free Radio chronicles the Cinderella story of Lance, a radio show intern who answers his call to greatness by jumping in to host a popular morning show when the real host defects to satellite radio. Lance’s hosting effort (full of botched celebrity interviews, on-air tantrums and all around buffoonery) is so spectacularly awful that ratings actually go up.

In addition to the rise of the hero Lance (Lance Krall – The Joe Schmo Show, The Lance Krall Show) Free Radio follows the dysfunctional staff at KBOM, as they try to adjust to life with their new unlikely star. From the frustrated station manager James (Brian Huskey – Big Shot Live) to co-host Anna (Anna Vocino – The Young and the Restless), they all put up with Lance for the sake of ratings, dubbing his new show “Moron in the Morning.”

As an improvised comedy, it offers a fresh alternative to the typical sitcom, showing just how far real A-List celebrities will go to tolerate a complete moron. Celebrity guests from film, television, music and stage join Lance in his booth to promote their latest projects and endure Lance’s clueless questions and oblivious take on the world. Hollywood luminaries including Kiefer Sutherland (24, The Lost Boys), three-time Emmy Award winner Tony Shalhoub (Monk, Men In Black), Jack Coleman (Heroes, Kingdom Hospital) and Ray Romano (Everybody Loves Raymond, Ice Age) are subjected to the idiot storm that is Lance and “Moron in the Morning.” While runaway celebrity interviews make up the bulk of the show, Free Radio also goes behind the scenes to depict the loveably dim hero’s struggle to deal with his newfound fame and earn the respect of his co-workers.
